Kerstin Blomquist, M.A., is a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. She is currently completing her clinical internship at the UCSD Veteran Affairs Psychology Internship Program and conducts her clinical work at the UCSD Eating Disorders Clinic as well as at the VA Anxiety and Mood Clinics. Kerstin Blomquist is the recipient of a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship (2001), a National Institute of Health (NIH) predoctoral trainee fellowship (2005), as well as an American Psychological Association (APA) Dissertation Research Award (2005). For her doctoral dissertation, she tested hypotheses derived from a cognitive behavioral and interpersonal model of body image. Specifically, her research study examined the impact of romantic relationships on women’s body dissatisfaction. She defended her dissertation in May 2007 and will receive her doctorate in clinical psychology in August 2008. Her long term career goals are to develop a program of research that examines risk factors, prevention, and treatment interventions for eating disorders and to implement these eating disorder intervention programs in the community for adolescent girls and adults.
