Tyson Oberndorfer recently received a Master’s degree in Biomedical Science, specializing in Neuroscience and Radiology, from New York University. He currently works with Dr. Walter Kaye in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego.
Mr. Oberndorfer’s interests focus on the application of cutting-edge biomedical technology to learn more about neurological disorders, with the hope of using that knowledge to develop treatments and cures, and to otherwise better the human condition. His previous research experience includes: Magnetoencephalography (MEG), Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS), Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI), and Volumetric MR imaging, applied to Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and traumatic brain injury.
Mr. Oberndorfer’s current research is focused on exploring the relationship between brain and behavior using functional brain imaging, and investigating new treatments for anorexia nervosa. He is responsible for processing and analyzing functional MRI data and for conducting the day-to-day operations of the studies.
