No Cost Family Therapy for Adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa
Families with adolescents who are currently suffering from Anorexia Nervosa are needed to participate in an international study coordinated out of Stanford University. Six treatment sites from all over the United States and Canada will be providing no cost family therapy for nine months and medication management of either Fluoxetine or placebo for over a year to families who need treatment. Within the next two years, each site will be recruiting 40 families and therefore 240 families will have the opportunity to be randomized to receive one of the two state of the art family therapy treatments! This study is currently the largest study in history to examine family therapy in adolescents with anorexia nervosa. This is a great opportunity for those who cannot currently afford treatment! We are looking for adolescents between the ages of 12-18 who currently meet the DSM-IV-TR criteria for anorexia nervosa. If you are interested about participating in this study, please contact one of our six treatment sites! For more information, please contact UCSD Eating Disorder Treatment and Research Program at (858)534-8058 or email edresearch@ucsd.edu. We look forward to working with you!

Double-blind Placebo-controlled trial of Quetiapine (Seroquel) in Anorexia Nervosa: HRPP#051027
UCSD researchers are trying to understand more about effective treatment interventions for individuals with anorexia nervosa. We are seeking males and females between the ages 18-65 who are suffering from anorexia nervosa, are at least 15% below ideal body weight and are fearful of gaining weight, despite being underweight. Your participation in this UCSD Eating Disorder Treatment and Research Program trial will help us find out if the medication known as Quetiapine helps people with anorexia nervosa and you may receive up to $360. For more information, please contact UCSD Eating Disorder Treatment and Research Program at (858) 534-8019 or email edresearch@ucsd.edu. We look forward to working with you!
