Behavioral Contracting
The primary goal of Contracting is to assist the family in developing a contract that will be used to increase positive behaviors and decrease negative behaviors related to the adolescent’s eating disorder. We typically have four contracting sessions during an IFT week. In order to increase the likelihood of success, both the adolescent and his/her parents must be involved in developing the contract. If other family members are present (e.g., other siblings), they may be in the room with the parents and adolescent but they do not need to participate in Contracting.
