Christina Felonis

Dr. Christina Felonis is a postdoctoral fellow at the UCSD Eating Disorders Center for Treatment and Research in the Adult Program. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Theater from Bates College and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Drexel University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the UCSD Eating Disorders Center and at Rady Children’s Hospital in the primary care mental health integration rotation. Dr. Felonis has treated eating disorders and their comorbidities including mood, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive, and trauma related disorders. She has utilized cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness- and acceptance-based approaches and is certified in Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD and Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD. Her research focuses on the ways in which negative and positive affect maintain eating pathology and can be more effectively intervened on. Her doctoral dissertation created machine learning models that predicted loss of control eating and compensatory behavior episodes during treatment using daily life experiences like changes in affect. Outside of work, she can be found at the beach with her two dogs, going to concerts, and traveling.
